Culiacán, Sin., May 9th. A commando of at least 15 men murdered Edgar Guzmán López, son of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán Loera, leader of the Sinaloa cartel, on Thursday night. The young man was accompanied by three people, two of whom lost their lives, confirmed local police authorities and the Attorney General's Office.

The aggressors, who were traveling in three recent model vehicles, surprised Édgar Guzmán and, apparently, his security force at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, in the parking lot of the City Club supermarket, located in the Desarrollo Tres neighborhood, north of the city.

The victims were circulating in two vans: an armored, white Ford Lobo, TX-2045 license plates, from Sinaloa, in which the drug lord's son was in, and a DJX-6093 Cruiser license plates. During the attack, at least 20 vehicles parked in the shopping center were damaged by the bullet and bazooka impacts used by the shooters.

Guzmán's companions - one died on the way to the hospital - were identified as Arturo Cázares (son of La Emperatriz, Blanca Margarita Cázares Salazar), owner of the Bilbao nightclub and family of Emilio Cázares, originally from the municipality of Mocorito and leader of a criminal organization related to the Sinaloa cartel, and Arturo Meza, son of Raúl Meza On

Another person, who so far has not been identified, was injured and remains interned in an hospital.

When Governor Jesús Aguilar Padilla was interrogated by reporters about what happened, he sent them to ask the state prosecutor, Luis Cárdenas Fonseca, who said that "none of the bodies have been identified. So far, nothing has been confirmed," he said.

Experts from the State Attorney General's Office collected about 500 shells at the site and took photographs of the holes caused by the bazoobach fired by the aggressor group, apparently linked to the criminal organization of the Carrillo Fuentes, also known as the Juárez cartel.

These three homicides are part of the most recent chapter of the war that antagonistic organized crime groups intensified since last week in Culiacán and Navolato, which has left 35 people killed, including a dozen local and federal agents, and about 10 missing people olevant (kidnapping with no intention of asking for ransom).

The constant clashes between gangs, the narratives that have recently appeared in different parts of the city with accusations and threats, as well as the rumors that circulate daily about alleged attacks on civilians, have caused an atmosphere of symcosis among the inhabitants of this capital.

Today was a particularly long day for those who live here, which began with the version of the murder of "one of El Chapo's sons." It was followed by new rumors and false alarms, including bomb threats in the Garmendia market - located in the center of the city -, the airport and public schools - including the Faculty of Accounting and Administration of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, whose building was evicted - and private schools.

The atmosphere of anxiety was fueled by versions, ultimately false, about attacks against drug traffickers and children of the president, Jesús Aguilar Padilla, and the mayor of Culiacán, Jesús Vizcarra.

On Thursday night and early Friday morning, after local authorities confirmed the murder of Édgar Guzmán, police of Culiacán and ministers of Sinaloa were instructed to quarter in their respective bases and suspend tours and surveillance operations, which resumed on Friday morning.

Members of the Mexican Army and elements of the Federal Preventive Police keep the building of the Forensic Medical Service of Culiacán, where the body of Edgar Guzmán is located, which, according to local police sources, will be transferred to Mexico City. The body of another of the victims was taken to a local funeral home. This Friday, about 150 federal police officers arrived in Culiacán.

More homicides

In the early morning of this Friday, the bodies of seven people who had been killed with firearms and beatings were found in the vicinity of the community of Villa Juárez, municipality of Navolato, including an agent of the traffic police of Culiacán, who had been lifted last month.

The victims were found in three different places and the policeman who was missing, identified as Guadalupe Félix Murguía, was found in an area near the Santa Elena camp, very close to three other bodies that have not been identified, apparently beaten to death.

In another sector, in the vicinity of the cooperative of the El Castillo fishing field, three other corpses were found, all with traces of torture and bullet impacts of different calibers.

On the other hand, the two hitmen who died after a shooting in the town of Xoxocotla, Morelos, last Wednesday, identified as Alfredo Ríos Urías and José Guadalupe Esparza Sánchez, are natives of the Cofradía de la Loma community, municipality of Navolato, the Attorney General of this entity reported.
