In "Operation Tamasopo," the Army and the DEA arrest fentanyl bosses

* The deployment of force was carried out covertly in the facilities of a famous hotel

An intense mobilization of police forces was recorded on October 8 in the vicinity of a famous Tamasopo hotel after federal authorities deployed an operation to arrest a subject who was identified as a major fentanyl trafficking boss in the state.

The information that has been released indicates that the operation was deployed jointly between the Aeromobile Group of Special Forces of the Mexican Army (GAFES) and the United States Anti-Drug Agency (DEA).

The main objective of the operation was Jorge Alberto García, known as "La Kena", leader of "Los Ciclones", a cartel that is an armed wing of The Gulf Cartel. However, La Kena managed to escape, although the operation culminated in the arrest of eleven members, among whom the trusted head of the cartel stood out. At the time of their arrest, the drug lords were found in possession of 4,000 fentanyl pills.

According to testimonies that have been disclosed through social networks, at certain times there was panic among the population, because the deployment was enormous and it was not entirely clear whether it was the interference of a criminal group or the public security authorities.

They specify that this operation was carried out covertly and occurred as a result of the recent visit led by the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, where new strategies to combat drug trafficking, especially fentanyl, in Mexican territory were addressed.
